GETAWAY — A Love Letter to Movement
When we were naming our newest Turkish towel collection for Summer Solstice 2025, we wanted something that felt light, breezy, effortless.
GETAWAY felt like a no-brainer. It’s a towel, after all. It should be draped across pool chairs and picnic blankets and tan shoulders by the sea.
But the more I sat with the word, the more it started to shift.
Because in our house, getaway has always meant something else, too.

When Güven immigrated to the U.S. at 30 years old, it wasn’t for a vacation.
It was a leap. A choice wrapped in risk. A getaway not from a beach but from the limitations of a place that couldn’t hold the bigness of his dreams.
He came with grit and heart and a suitcase of Turkish snacks I didn’t understand yet. He came for freedom, for equity, for the possibility of a future that could hold a family, a business, and a life that didn’t seem obtainable in Türkiye.
And now, all these years later, we’re raising our three kids with passports and playlists from two continents.
Our lives are multi-lingual and multi-layered. There’s olive oil and peanut butter on the counter. There’s “good morning” and “günaydin.”
And there's a deep, daily knowing that not everyone gets to move freely.
Borders may be drawn by governments, but what they really shape is opportunity. And sometimes, survival.
We believe in the freedom to move. And in the dignity to stay.
We believe in welcoming, not gatekeeping.
We believe in raising kids who see the world not in flags, but in faces.
That’s why this collection means something to us.
And why we’re giving a portion of the profits to the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC)—an incredible org working to build a more just immigration system and defend the rights of immigrant families across the U.S.
