It’s Finally Getting Easier to Say Out Loud
I’ve been a textile buyer & designer for almost a decade, and it’s finally getting easier to say out loud.
Why are new identities so uncomfortable to slip into when you’ve already been doing the work for years?
Today I was at therapy with my middle child and we were talking about superpowers. Without hesitation, she said mine was being an artist.
I welled up.
I love being seen that way through my kiddos’ eyes. There was something incredibly validating about realizing that this is how they know me. As the creative free spirit I have always been, but now feel the autonomy to express more often.
I get to design textiles, buy them, develop them over years, travel to where they’re made with my family. Make weird little films and take fun, silly & creative photos to sell them. Write about cotton and bodies and borders and pleasure and home..
And then I get to walk into an entirely different business I built for myself and write for other people.
Newsletters. Social posts. Thought leadership. Google review campaigns. SEO. Seasonal content series. I ghostwrite for founders and leaders and help run the digital parts of businesses that have gotten too serious to keep looking DIY online. Maybe artist is the identity big enough to hold all of it.
And right now, I’ve intentionally made space for one new client. Someone who has been DIYing their marketing and socials since the beginning. You built the business. You got good at what you do. People who meet you already know you’re serious, and now you’re ready for your digital presence to look & feel as good as the business does in real life.
Personal brand or small business—I love partnering with people at exactly this point.
Maybe there’s a difference between doing something & finally letting it become part of who you are.
Anyway. Textile buyer. Designer. Artist. Founder.
Look at me saying it. 🖤
And one of the things I got to design this year is finally HERE.
Our Fluid Cotton Tees have officially made their way from the looms & sewing rooms in Türkiye to our studio in Ohio, and onto our bodies. We made extras after the pre-order, so you can get yours now below!
